Founded by young African changemakers who experienced displacement and inequality firsthand, AYIODE is built on a bold belief:

Our Story

Born from Lived Experience

AYIODE was born from a deeply personal experience.

Our founder, James Bahati, grew up in eastern Democratic Republic of Congo in a region affected by conflict. In 2022, war forced him to flee his home and become a refugee in Uganda.

Despite displacement, he continued studying and later received support from organizations that believed in his potential.

"If opportunities could transform his life, they could transform the lives of millions of young Africans."

That experience sparked a lifelong mission. AYIODE was created to ensure that no talented African youth is limited by circumstance.

Africa stands at a defining moment in history. With the youngest population in the world, the continent holds immense promise. Yet millions of talented young Africans still lack access to the opportunities needed to transform that promise into reality.

At AYIODE, we believe the future of Africa will not be shaped by resources alone — it will be shaped by leaders. Ethical leaders. Entrepreneurial leaders. Visionary leaders.

We believe leadership is not determined by privilege or background. It can emerge from a refugee camp. From a rural village. From a crowded city neighborhood. It can emerge anywhere talent exists.

AYIODE exists to discover those leaders, nurture them, and equip them with the tools to transform their communities and the continent.

This is more than an organization. It is a movement. A movement to unlock Africa's greatest resource: its people.

To educate and develop 10 million ethical and entrepreneurial African leaders by 2050 through world-class leadership academies, universities, mentorship programs, and Pan-African networks.

Why Africa Needs a New Model of Leadership Education

Africa's future will be determined by the choices made by today's young generation. By 2050, Africa will be home to one of the largest youth populations in the world.

This demographic shift represents one of the greatest opportunities in human history. But opportunity alone is not enough.

Without access to quality education, mentorship, and leadership development, the potential of millions of young Africans may remain untapped. AYIODE was created to address this challenge — building institutions designed specifically for Africa's realities and aspirations.
